I recently got the opportunity to travel to see a marvelous wonder of guitar euphoria. Thanks to my amazing wife, I went to sweet home Chicago. Its not my home but it is home to Chicago Music Exchange and their showroom of 4000 guitars, yes, 4000 guitars. They have a plethora, yes, a plethora of new, used and vintage instruments to gaze upon and even play. I played a 1965 Fender Stratocaster, several Fender Custom shop guitars, a Nash, a Duesenburg, Gibsons, a Trussart and many more. Not to mention all the custom, and boutique amps. The people were friendly and accommodating which just turned the whole thing up to 11. The trip was simply magical for a guitar hound. I had good company with me in the form of Josh Slye, a fellow gear nut, and the trip was rather cheap or would have been if Spirit had not cancelled my original return flight. However the cancellation allowed for another trip to paradise.
The trip got me thinking a little bit about taking time to find a piece of paradise. Often in life we don't know or find such a little pleasure. I don't know what your inner hound dog likes to sniff out for enjoyment but I think you should let the dog out a bit and go find some paradise. I think that in the joy of doing something that you love and that captivates you there is also a motivation. That motivation is in realizing that we are made for paradise and not a mere 3 day holiday to guitar wonderland but an eternal paradise where the experience will be much more thrilling.
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Guitars and Starbucks and Hillbilly music, the only things that keep me hangin onnn on on
